TREKKING IN THE CAPRIONE PROMONTORY
We offer excursions in the Natural Park of Montemarcello-Magra-Vara everyday to discover its beauties and the incredible history that characterizes it. Ascending from Bocca di Magra, along the typical and ancient mule tracks, sometimes still paved with stones, you reach Montemarcello. Bocca di Magra, a charming village once visited by well-known poets and painters and where we can seethe remains of Roman villas as well as necropolis of Apuan Ligurian origins. Montemarcello, baby gem of multicolored houses, maze of alleys, in dialect “carruggi”. From Montemarcello it is also possible to go down to the sea, along a wild staircase that leads to Punta Corvo, an enchanting beach of dark pebbles and blue sea. Or in just a five minute walk to reach the incredible panoramic area overlooking the beach itself. Continuing northwards on the mule track you can reach the botanical garden of Mount Murlo, or westwards, from the crossroads of Zanego, you can go down the path that leads to Tellaro, a real pearl on the sea, discovering fantastic scenarios of blue, in a succession of breathtaking images. Another suggestive variation is the path that runs towards the ridge up to the Branzi mountains, sometimes in the shade of centuries-old holm oaks, looking for prehistoric sites, menhirs, cavemen, traces of Celtic Ligurian populations, like the “Farfalla dorata” (Golden butterfly)” whose presence is witnessed by the signs as mysterious as unequivocal, disseminated in this strongly anthropized arealong before the Roman legions arrived. Beautiful trekking and suitable for everyone, which captures the essence of the truest Liguria.
